What is the history of John Crane?

John Crane was founded in 1917 as the Crane Packing Company in Chicago, Illinois. Initially, the company focused on packing and gasket products. In the 1930s, John Crane developed its first mechanical seals, and by 1939, it had invented the first automotive mechanical seal. The company continued to innovate with the introduction of elastomer bellows seals in the 1940s and non-contacting dry gas seals in the 1980s. Today, John Crane operates globally, providing advanced sealing solutions and support systems to various industries​​.
