What is a multiple spring PTFE wedge seal?

The shaft seal inside the multi-spring rotary is a PTFE 'wedge'. They are commonly used in petrochemical or chemical applications. The multi sprung design allows an even face load to be applied over the face area and butt a number of compression springs.
